Flitwick and the MK45 villages

Flitwick is just past Ampthill, around twenty minutes south of us in Bedford. We have re-roofed a house in MK45 and we cover Flitwick and the villages around it, whether that is one cracked tile or the whole roof.

A railway town that grew fast

Flitwick has a station on the line into London, and much of the town was built in the second half of the last century as people moved out to commute. That means a lot of similar roofs, all getting older together. The problems we see most on houses of that age:

• Felt failing at the eaves. The first few feet of felt above the gutter sag and rot, water drips behind the fascia, and a damp patch appears upstairs. An eaves support tray stops it happening again.
• Mortar falling out of verges and ridges. We replace it with a dry verge and dry ridge system, which is fixed mechanically.
• Garage and extension flat roofs. Old felt that has blistered and split. We replace it in GRP fibreglass or EPDM rubber.
• Blocked gutters and tired fascias. We clear, repair or replace soffits, fascias and gutters.
