Before you ask
Questions people ask
My house is in the Ampthill conservation area. Can you still repair the roof?
Yes. Most repairs are like for like and simply need doing carefully with matching materials. If a change might need consent, such as different tiles or a new rooflight, we will tell you so you can check with the council before work starts.
Do you need full scaffolding for a small repair?
Not always. For small repairs we often use our own tower scaffold, which keeps the job quicker and the cost down. Bigger work needs proper scaffold, and the quote will say which.
Do you cover the villages near Ampthill?
Yes, the MK45 villages are all covered the same as the town. Ring 01234 634 016 with your postcode.
Ready when you are
It takes about 30 seconds to ask, and you are not committing to anything.
More about roofing in Ampthill
Down the A6 to Ampthill
Ampthill is a short run south of Bedford down the A6, up on the Greensand Ridge. We have re-roofed a house in MK45, and we cover the town and the villages around it for everything from a slipped tile to a full roof.
A Georgian town centre and plenty around it
The middle of Ampthill is one of the prettiest in the county, with Georgian brick houses and older cottages around the market place and along Church Street. A lot of it is in a conservation area. On roofs like these the aim is to make a repair you cannot spot from the street, which means:
- matching clay tiles and slates to the old ones rather than whatever is cheapest
- lead flashings dressed by hand, in Code 4 or Code 5 lead, not a strip of flashing tape
- keeping the line of the ridge and the old character of the roof
Beyond the centre, Ampthill has postwar and newer estates with concrete tile roofs, and those bring the usual jobs: failing felt, cracked verge mortar, blocked valleys and tired fascias and gutters.
Honest about what it needs
We go up, photograph what we find and show you. If a small repair from a tower scaffold will do, that is what we quote. If the roof is beyond patching, the photos will show why, and you can decide with the facts in front of you. Either way the written quote lists every item, from scaffold to skip, and the work comes with our written company guarantee. If you have any problems afterwards, we come back and fix the fault.
We also cover: Flitwick · Kempston · Bedford · Cranfield · Sandy · Biggleswade · Milton Keynes · Letchworth Garden City · St Neots · Huntingdon · Northampton · Royston · Peterborough · Stamford · Cambridge · Oakham · Bury St Edmunds
