Before you ask
Questions people ask
Are you actually based in Bedford?
Yes. Ultimate Roofcare is a Bedford company and Bedford is where most of our work is. We cover every part of town, from the centre to Putnoe, Brickhill, Castle Road, Bromham, Biddenham, Kempston and Wixams.
My Victorian terrace near Castle Road has damp around the chimney. Is that the roof?
Often it is. On terraces that age the lead flashing and the pointing around the stack wear out first, and water runs down inside the chimney breast. We will look, take photos and tell you whether it is the lead, the pointing or something else before we quote.
Can you come out quickly if my roof starts leaking in a storm?
We run a 24-hour call-out for leaks and storm damage. Ring 01234 634 016, tell us what you can see, and we will make the roof safe first and quote for the proper repair after.
Ready when you are
It takes about 30 seconds to ask, and you are not committing to anything.
More about roofing in Bedford
Bedford is where we work from
We are a Bedford roofing firm, and most of our week is spent on Bedford roofs. You may well have seen the blue and orange vans already. From the town centre out to Putnoe, Bromham, Castle Road, Wixams, Biddenham, Kempston and Brickhill, this is the patch we know street by street.
A town with every kind of roof
Bedford grew in stages along the Great Ouse, and you can read those stages off the rooftops.
- Castle Road and the streets near the river: Victorian and Edwardian terraces in slate and clay tile, with chimneys that need their lead and pointing looked after.
- Putnoe and Brickhill: postwar houses and bungalows, many still on their first felt, which is now brittle and tearing at the eaves.
- Bromham and old Biddenham: older village houses where a repair has to sit right with what is already there.
- Wixams: the newest homes in the borough, where it tends to be ridge, verge and gutter details rather than the whole roof.
Jobs we have done here
One Bedford customer had a leak at the chimney of a 1980s house. We could have sold a big job. Instead we replaced the lead and about a metre of felt, because that was all it needed. We have re-roofed houses and bungalows across MK41 and MK43, and taken out spray foam that was holding up house sales. Where a re-roof needs Building Control sign-off, we arrange it.
How we work
We get up on the roof, take photos of what we find, and show you. Then you get a written quote with every item listed, from scaffold and materials to the skip. We are fully insured, and the work comes with a written company guarantee. If you have any problems, we come back and fix the fault.
We also cover: Kempston · Ampthill · Flitwick · Cranfield · Sandy · Biggleswade · St Neots · Letchworth Garden City · Milton Keynes · Huntingdon · Northampton · Royston · Peterborough · Stamford · Oakham · Cambridge · Bury St Edmunds
