Before you ask
Questions people ask
Why are my gutters overflowing?
Usually they are blocked with moss and leaves, or they have sagged and lost their fall. Sometimes they are simply too small for the roof. We check which it is and clear, refix or replace them.
Should I replace my fascias when I get a new roof?
If they are tired, yes. The scaffold is already up, so it is the most sensible time, and new fascias let us fit eaves trays and ventilation properly.
Can you fit timber fascias instead of uPVC?
Yes. On older and period houses we fit timber soffits and fascias to keep the roofline in keeping with the house.
What is a ventilated soffit?
It is a soffit with built-in vents that let air into the roof space at the eaves. That airflow helps stop condensation building up in the loft.

It takes about 30 seconds to ask, and you are not committing to anything.
More about soffits, fascias & gutters
The edge of the roof, done properly
Fascias carry your gutters, soffits close off the eaves and let the roof breathe, and gutters carry the rain away from your walls and foundations. When any of them fail, water ends up where it should not. We fit new uPVC soffits, fascias and gutters, and timber ones where the character of the house calls for it.
If you are having a new roof, this is the best time to change them, because the scaffold is already up.
What's included
uPVC fascias and soffits
Old boards stripped off, rafter ends checked, and new uPVC fascias and soffits fitted for a clean finish that needs very little upkeep.
Ventilated soffit systems
Ventilation at the eaves lets air move through the roof space, which helps keep condensation down in the loft.
Timber soffits and fascias
On period houses we fit new timber soffits and fascias so the roofline stays in keeping with the original character.
New guttering
New gutters and downpipes, including deep-flow guttering where a roof sheds a lot of water.
Gutter clearing and repairs
Blocked gutters cleared, leaking joints fixed and sagging runs refixed to the right fall.
Eaves support trays
When the fascias are off, we can fit eaves support trays so the roof felt cannot sag and rot behind the gutter.
Why the roofline matters
Rotten fascias let gutters sag, sagging gutters overflow, and overflowing gutters soak the walls below. Old soffits can also block the airflow a roof needs, which leads to condensation in the loft. Getting the roofline right protects the roof above it and the walls under it. When we have the old boards off, we check the rafter ends behind them, because that is where hidden rot often sits.
How the job runs
- We check the roofline and photograph rot, leaks and sagging gutters.
- Written quote, listing the boards, gutters and any scaffold.
- Old boards and gutters come off, and we check the rafter ends.
- New fascias, soffits and gutters go on, joints sealed and fall checked.
- Old materials taken away and the site left clean.
