Before you ask
Questions people ask
Why is my ceiling stained when the roof looks fine from outside?
Water can get in through a cracked tile, tired lead or failed felt and run along the timbers before it drips. The cause is often a metre or more from the stain. We trace it from the loft and the roof.
Can you just repair the bad bit, or will I need a new roof?
If the damage is local, a local repair is the right answer and that is what we will quote for. We only suggest a new roof when the felt or timbers have failed across the roof, and we show you the photos so you can judge for yourself.
Do I need scaffolding for a small roof repair?
Not always. Many repairs can be done from our own tower scaffold. If a job does need full scaffold, it is listed separately on your written quote.
Can you come out in an emergency?
Yes. We run a 24-hour call-out for leaks and storm damage. Ring 01234 634 016 and we will make the roof safe first.
Will a repaired patch stand out?
We match the tiles or slates to what is already on the roof, so from the ground the repair should be hard to spot.

More about roof repairs
The right repair, not the biggest one
Plenty of roofs only need a small, careful repair. On one 1980s house in Bedford a leak by the chimney was cured with new lead and about a metre of fresh felt. No scaffold round the whole house, no new roof. We would rather earn your trust with an honest repair than sell you work you do not need.
When something more is going on, you will see it in the photos we take, and we explain it in plain words.
What's included
Leaks traced to the source
Water often travels along a rafter before it drips, so the stain on the ceiling is rarely under the hole. We follow it back from the loft and the roof until we find where it gets in.
Slipped, cracked and missing tiles
Refixed or replaced with tiles that match, so the repair does not stand out from the road.
Rotten felt at the eaves
The bottom metre of a roof takes the most water and is often the first place old felt fails. We open it up, renew the felt, lap it into the sound felt above and fit an eaves support tray so it cannot sag again.
Ridge and verge repairs
Loose ridge tiles and crumbling verges are refitted with a dry ridge or dry verge system, or rebedded with new undercloak where that suits the roof.
Small jobs from a tower scaffold
For many repairs we use our own tower scaffold rather than a full scaffold, which keeps the job simple.
24-hour call-out
For leaks and storm damage we offer a 24-hour call-out, to make the roof safe first and repair it properly after.
Storm damage
After high winds we secure loose tiles and ridges, cover anything left open, and photograph the damage so you have a record for your insurer.
