Before you ask
Questions people ask
Do you cover all of Kempston, including Kempston Rural?
Yes. We cover Kempston and the MK42 and MK43 villages around it. Give us your postcode when you ring and we will arrange a time to come and look.
My ridge tiles were re-bedded a few years ago and are loose again. Why?
Mortar on a ridge cracks with frost and movement, then water gets in and it lets go. Re-bedding starts the clock again. A dry ridge system fixes the tiles mechanically, so there is nothing to wash out.
Is the quote free?
Yes. The visit and the written quote cost nothing, and the quote is itemised so you can see exactly what you are paying for.
Ready when you are
It takes about 30 seconds to ask, and you are not committing to anything.
More about roofing in Kempston
Next door to us
Kempston runs straight into Bedford, so we are rarely more than a few minutes away. We have worked in Kempston and the MK42 and MK43 roads around it, and plenty of our customers here found us because a neighbour had us round first.
Kempston roofs
Kempston sits on the edge of the Marston Vale, the old brickmaking country, and its roofs vary more than people expect:
- older terraces near the river and the High Street, often in slate, where nail fatigue lets slates slip one at a time
- postwar semis and bungalows in concrete tile, many now at the age where the felt under the tiles is failing
- newer estates where the trouble is usually at the edges: mortar falling out of the verges, loose ridge tiles, gutters that overflow
Fixing what is actually wrong
A damp patch on a bedroom ceiling does not always mean a new roof. Very often the felt has rotted at the bottom of the roof where it meets the gutter, and opening up about a metre, renewing the felt and fitting an eaves support tray sorts it for good. Where ridge or verge mortar keeps cracking, we fit a dry ridge or dry verge system, which is screwed and clipped in place so there is no mortar left to fall out.
If the roof really is finished, we will show you photos of why, and the quote will list every part of the job so you can compare it fairly with anyone else's.
