We do the hard part
- Cutting the foam out of the rafters and bagging every bit of it

- Arranging an electrician if solar panels need disconnecting
- Topping the loft insulation back up

Before you ask
Questions people ask
The firm that fitted our foam says it is fine. Should we still remove it?
That's your decision. What we can do is look, photograph the foam and the timbers we can see, and give you a written price, so you can weigh it up with your surveyor or lender.
Is it enough to take out just some of the foam?
Usually lenders and surveyors want it gone from the whole roof, because the point is to see all the timbers. If someone else has done part of it, we can finish the rest.
Do you take the foam away?
Yes. It is bagged in the loft, carried out and taken away with us. You are not left with sacks of foam in the garden.
Ready when you are
It takes about 30 seconds to ask, and you are not committing to anything.
More about spray foam removal in St Neots
Sold as an upgrade, now a headache
A lot of spray foam went into lofts on the back of a doorstep visit or a phone call promising lower bills. Years later the same foam can hold up a sale, worry a surveyor and hide what's happening to the roof timbers. If you've got it in a St Neots loft and want it gone, we can take it out properly.
Signs your foam needs looking at
- A buyer's survey or a lender has flagged it
- You can smell damp in the loft, or see staining on the foam
- The foam is cracking, shrinking or coming away in places
- It was sprayed straight onto the underside of the tiles with no felt
- You simply want to know what the timbers look like underneath
Putting a half-finished job right
Not every removal is done properly the first time. Near Bedford we were called to finish a job another firm had left half done, with foam still stuck to the rafters and battens. If someone has already had a go at yours and left it patchy, we'll look, photograph what's left and quote to finish it.
What removal involves
Before we start
A look in the loft and a clear written quote. If you have solar panels, we arrange an electrician to disconnect them safely and reconnect them afterwards.
On the day
The foam is cut and scraped off the rafters, battens and felt or tiles. Closed-cell foam is hard and stuck fast, so it takes longer and more care than the softer open-cell type. Everything is bagged and taken away with us.
When we finish
We photograph the bare timbers so you have a record, and leave the loft clean.
After the foam
Once it's out you can see the roof for what it is. If the felt behind the foam has failed or a batten has rotted, we'll show you and price the repair separately. We can also put proper loft insulation back, topped up to 300mm or more between and over the joists, so the house stays warm without anything stuck to the roof.
