Before you ask
Questions people ask
Can we stay in the house while the roof is replaced?
Yes, most people do. The loft is the only part affected and we keep the house watertight at the end of every working day.
How long does a re-roof take?
It depends on the size and the roof. One Bedford customer's house was done in four days, and we've re-slated a roof in Milton Keynes in a single day. We give you a realistic timescale on the quote.
What happens if you find rotten timber once the tiles are off?
We stop, photograph it and show you before doing anything about it. You agree the extra work and price before it goes ahead.
Ready when you are
It takes about 30 seconds to ask, and you are not committing to anything.
More about roof replacement in St Neots
It often starts with a smaller call
A lot of the re-roofs we do begin as something else. One Bedford customer asked us about moss, gutters and a damp patch. When we went up, the underlay from 1979 had failed, so the honest answer was a new roof on the house and the garage. Another rang about a roof clean on a 200-year-old house, and that became a full replacement too.
That doesn't mean every call ends in a new roof. It means we look properly, photograph what we find, and tell you which it is. If you're in St Neots and your roof is showing its age, that's where we start.
Signs your roof may be ready for replacing
- Felt in the loft that is torn, brittle or sagging between the rafters
- Daylight showing through from inside the loft
- Tiles slipping in more than one place, again and again
- Damp patches that come back after each repair
- A dip or sag in the roof line seen from the street
How a re-roof runs
Survey and photos
We go up and into the loft, photograph the tiles, felt and timbers and talk you through it.
The written quote
Every part is itemised: scaffold, tiles, membrane, battens, skip and Building Control sign-off. No vague totals.
Scaffold and strip
The scaffold goes up, the old covering comes off and every timber is checked. Rotten ones are replaced.
The new roof
Breathable membrane, treated battens and counter-battens, eaves support trays, and dry ridge and dry verge systems. Clay or concrete tiles, natural Spanish slate or man-made slate, chosen to suit the house. Loft insulation is topped up to 300mm or more while it's open.
Sign-off and clear-up
Building Control inspect and sign it off, which we arrange. The scaffold comes down, the skip goes, and you get a written company guarantee.
Houses across St Neots
We cover the whole of PE19, from older houses round the town centre and Eynesbury to the post-war estates and newer streets like Loves Farm. The roofs differ, so the quote does too.
Whatever the house, the finished roof comes with our written company guarantee. Should anything go wrong with our work, we return and put it right. We are fully insured, and we leave the drive, garden and road outside as tidy as we found them at the end of each day.
