Before you ask
Questions people ask
What is an eaves support tray?
A rigid tray fitted at the bottom of the roof under the felt. It stops old felt sagging and rotting behind the gutter, so water drains into the gutter instead of the wall.
Can you fix one slipped tile on my Kempston house?
Yes. Small jobs are welcome. We will also check why it slipped, because a failed nail or soft batten can mean others will follow.
What should I do while I wait for you?
Catch the water, move belongings out of the way and turn off the power in that room if water is near any electrics. Please do not go up on the roof yourself.
Ready when you are
It takes about 30 seconds to ask, and you are not committing to anything.

Does it need someone tonight?
When something goes wrong with a roof, the first question is how urgent it is. Here is a rough guide for Kempston homeowners.
Ring now
- Water coming through a ceiling or running down an inside wall
- Tiles or ridge pieces blown off and lying on a path or drive
- A ceiling bulging or sagging with water
We run a 24-hour call-out for leaks and storm damage. Meanwhile, put a bucket under the drip and switch off power to the room if water is near a light fitting.
Book a visit this week
- A damp patch that grows after heavy rain
- One or two slipped tiles you can see from the garden
- Lead lifting at the chimney or a side wall
Worth a look before winter
- Moss building up, gutters overflowing
- Mortar falling from the ridge or verge
A typical repair, start to finish
One customer rang us at about half five in the evening with water coming in. we were out the next day. The felt along the bottom of the roof had rotted where it ran into the gutter. We opened up about a metre along the eaves, renewed the felt and fitted an eaves support tray, so water now runs straight into the gutter. The customer told us afterwards that everything has stayed completely dry.
That job is a good example of the eaves, which is one of the most common places a roof lets go. The felt sags behind the gutter, holds water and rots, and the damp shows up inside as a patch near the top of the wall.
How we keep repairs sensible
- We find the cause. The stain inside is not always under the fault, so we check the loft and the roof.
- We photograph it. You see what we see before deciding anything.
- We use the right access. Many repairs can be done from our tower scaffold instead of a full scaffold.
- We repair what is wrong. If a localised repair will do the job, that is what we quote for.
Every repair comes with our written company guarantee, and if anything goes wrong, we come back.
